If I had two identical tractors - one parade ready and one well-worn workhorse - I would rather buy the one that looks ragged but is in the field everyday. With that tractor I feel like I won't have to fix much to put it to work like it was intended. If someone isn't afraid to put it to work in their operation that tells me a lot.
Some folks see parade tractors as ones that the internals were ignored. Be very specific about the mechanical shape and what it can do. Has it pulled a plow? A pic of that in the ad would go a long ways. Got any pictures of it running the baler or pulling a manure spreader. I know you probably can't bear the thought of doing that to it but most likely those are the things it will do in its new life. If someone wants a parade tractor they enjoy working on it and that is part of the process (unless you are Jay Leno).
My loader tractor is an M that someone ran on parade duty some years back. It sat out after that and the paint faded and it got ugly. It is a workhorse now. I'll bet the person that redid it would be shattered to see it. I like to think she likes working each day.
