Here in my part of NWIA pothole country not only do we have drown out but the crops in the wetter poorly drained soil are not looking so good. The corn in those places is short and pale and the beans are losing bottom leaves. In the higher places the crops look good. 15 miles south of me they missed some of the heavy rain and their crops looked very good yesterday. Last night those parts south of me caught an awful lot of rain and some hail so their situation might be changed. My good corn is shoulder high which is about normal for these parts. The wet, sickly looking corn is almost knee high. Last Friday I got about 180 acres of the weediest beans sprayed so that pressure is off of me for now. I was kind of sitting straight up in the seat when I drove into some of the wet spots but I made it through them without throwing much mud. We've had another 1.8" of rain in the past day but it looks like it's pretty much over for now. We need lots of SUN AND DRY WEATHER!
