Looks like it hadn"t been cleaned under shroud for awhile- has it been noted as overheating? Wide spaceing of carb and exhaust pipe meant ease of adjusting valves- didn"t have to pull off muffler or maybe air cleaner to get to side valve cover plate. Some engines had a vacuum/pressure fuel pump that was on the cover plate- routing of fuel lines less a problem than with the close exhaust pipe and intake/carb. RN
