The best thing about our lunches was the home made yeast rolls. The main food cooking building was in the old high school, which becamne the Jr High. About 10:30 Am you could smell those rolls and couldn't wait till lunch time. They must have had gov't surplus, because there sometimes was three starches on the line. rice, mashed potatoes and beans. The poor children were fed first, then they worked for it, either serving on the line,girls, or clipper room, the guys.
