Either the gas or diesel 1250 was a total disaster, because of an off-breed engine with no parts availability. But I'm thinking that was the gas, and the diesel is basically OK. And I checked Import Tractor Parts, and they seem to have lots of parts for the 1250 diesel. They show a rebuild kit for the diesel, and I'd check the price on that before doing anything else.
That being said, its awful easy to get more into a tractor than its worth, especially a "pig in a poke" that isn't running. And diesel engine rebuilding is not a project for the beginner.
