How do you extrapolate that study, which only looks at inflammatory bowel disease in Denmark, to come up with the idea that country folks are healthier than urban dwellers? Ridiculous! Many states with large rural populations have terrible health statistics. Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana and Alabama are at the bottom of the list. Healthiest state in the country? Hawaii, which has most of its population packed into the island of Oahu.
From the article:
"The study indicates that people born after 1952 who spent the first five years of their lives on a livestock farm are much better protected against the common inflammatory bowel diseases than the oldest people in the survey. In fact, results from the oldest age group seem to show that it made no difference whether the subjects grew up in town or country."
Hardly conclusive.
We all know the main things that drive health: diet and exercise. Plenty of fatties in both the city and the country.
