JohnB I bought a used terramite with a 20 hp command. Left bank had a fouled plug. I discovered by removing the breather, there were 3 small holes in carb, near the top of the venture. I gave each a small puff of air, saw gas come out lower in venture. That was all it needed to make carb work fine.
When it doesn't run right, I give the carb another blast of air.
I was told Kohler's blow head gaskets, so I keep my engine running instead of turning it off and then right back on.
Do a leak down test before you tear it down. That will tell you where your problem is.
I don't think 20 psi will hurt that much. I wouldn't tear engine down for that reason.
I have 1500 hours on my engine. Change oil every 75 hrs. Still runs strong.
Check out small engine warehouse for a replacement engine. It may be better to get a new engine. If I ever have problems with mine, that what I'll do. george
