Sounds like something clogging the idle circuit. I would try easing the carb apart, spray out the passages with spray cleaner and compressed air if you have it. If you take any jets out be sure to note where they go, some of the Japanese carbs have several that will have the same thread but different size hole.
Also look over the wiring, especially the engine kill wire. Could be rubbed through and different engine vibrations causing it to short out.
