well, we finally got the old 10k generator back up and running thanks to the good knowledge of the kind folks here on YTC. first i told the old man to put some ATF in the cylinders and let it sit for a few days and in the mean time i told him to boil the carburetor in some soapy water for a few hours. the fuel pump was leaking and we ordered a rebuild kit for it but after 2 weeks they emailed us and said they couldn't get it any more (story of our lives) so we ordered a new one. we fired it up and it would run good for awhile and then start freaking out, sputtering and all so we started going thru the electrical, he took off the coils for the mag and sanded them clean and wa-la it was is running like a top. whew !!! finally !!!
anyway, i haven't stick welded anything for about 35 years, im using up some old welding rods that don't have all of the flux still on them, but what do you think, am i hired ? :)
