I am in a position right now where I am upgrading a lot of equipment. I prefer to call people but since a lot of the folks I am calling are working outdoors the calls do not always go thru so rather than leave a lengthy and confusing voice mail (and lets face it, a LOT of people do not know how to use their voice mail) I will shoot them a text. I usually put my name and city/state at the end and my phone number so they can call me when they are available. The other side of the texting thing is that a HUGE number of people do not remove ads for sold items so you end up calling people who then can be very rude to you because they feel you are bothering them over something they do not have. Heck, some people are rude on the phone even if the thing is still available. So on certain days...I text first just to make sure it is still around and to find out when is a good time to talk on phone.
Now, don't make too many assumptions on the wifey phone situation. SWMBO is well aware of what I need on the farm and spends a lot of time on Craigslist and elsewhere looking for it. She will find items and call on them without me even knowing about it. She will ask a lot of questions to verify she is onto the right thing and then pop into the room and say she has found an indispensable item and has the guy on the phone...do I want to talk to him? It's not any piece of cake for me to jump into the middle of it than it is for you to answer the questions...but you DO want to tell your item, right?
Honestly, if it is that much of a hassle, just turn them over to a dealer and take less. We are all dealing with the PITA issues relating to the technology everyone seems to be in love with. Give people some slack.

Today's Featured Article - A Lifetime of Farm Machinery - by Joe Michaels. I am a mechanical engineer by profession, specializing in powerplant work. I worked as a machinist and engine erector, with time spent overseas. I have always had a love for machinery, and an appreciation for farming and farm machinery. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
