Stan, Our family feels your pain, and believe me, we do. I can't help but feel their years of life is so short, that a lot of us lets the friend keep some freedom in this world.I have no use for folks who don't understand the love and affection our four legged friends give to us 24/7. I have heard people say it's just a dog or cat, and I'll pick up another one,or adds pop up for people who have a pet and looking for a good home who is moving and won't/ can't take the pet with them. Where as it all boils down to the fact that they want to get out of the obligation of taking care of them.
Occasionally, my son and I search the net and spot ads seeking new housing for a 17 year old horse that they no longer need, their excuse in the ad is "they don't have the time anymore to care for the animal". It seems to me they are trying to give the horse away, knowing that the end is near, and the expense of veterinary bills. Anyone on this forum knows me,my wife and son have a great capacity of love for any animal, and I can promise you they get the best treatment we can give, ever.
The Good Lord has placed them in our care and it becomes our responsibilty to give them the life they truly deserve. So my friend, from your writing, we can tell you had a great deal of love for your friend who passed. You did the right thing and saved her from undue pain, God love you. With warmest regards, LOU & family.
PS. My SIL and daughter lost their pal Duke 2 weeks ago,he was a wonderful 10 yr old German Shepherd friend.
