I want to know where these "unending unemployment benefits" are.
A relative of mine lost their job that they'd held and excelled at for over 10 years, because some bean counter decided it would be cheaper to move a call center to India.
This relative applied for every job within 30 miles, but due to the call center closing there were so many people looking for work that every job worth having, and most that weren't, were snapped up almost immediately. I don't think there were even openings at walmart or mcdonalds.
They had no choice but to go on unemployment. It's only right; they paid into it for almost 15 years straight, and EARNED the benefit.
Almost weekly, the gestapo a-holes from the NY dept. of labor would call, "Are you looking for work? Prove it. You're not going on enough interviews. Do better or we are going to terminate your benefits."
Benefits ran out after 26 weeks. I thought benefits had been extended to 53 or 99 weeks. What happened to that? There was a modest house to pay for and a child to care for in that situation. They were actively looking for work and would take ANYTHING that paid more than unemployment, but there were literally no jobs within 30 miles.
Luckily two weeks later a new call center opened up in the old location, and hired many of the former people back in essentially their old positions. God was looking out, but our illustrious politicians sure weren't.

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
