JD Seller, I have a question about the stens 120-634 oil filter. On ebay I can get a 12 pk of for $49. I have 2 briggs engines and 2 kawasaki engines. It appears they use the same filter. However there seems to be a slight difference in height. Yesterday I removed an OEM filter from Kaw 4010 mule. The height of that filter is slightly smaller. Is that a problem? I have plenty of room to use a longer filter.
On the other hand, I also have two kohler engines. One kohler filter is longer than the other. The longer one fits a 15.5 hp single cylinder. The shorter filter goes on a 20 hp command. Not enough room to use a longer one on the 20 hp. For some reason ebay wants a fortune for the replacement filter for either kohler. Why? I can get a kohler filter at Rural King much cheaper.
Not true with the Kaw filters, dealer wants $13. I can get briggs filters at rural king for $8 or $9.
I'm not cheap, just frugal.
Kaw dealer also wanted a fortune for kaw 80-90w limited slip differential oil. Valvoline 80-90w limited slip oil at walmart was almost 1/2 price. Same with 10w40 kaw engine oil, 1/2 price for valvoline 10w40 motor cycle oil. I could have saved even more is I used wal-mart oils, but I decided I might be cheap, not stupid. Now watch someone dispute that point!
If I wanted to save money on Kohler filters, I could get cheap ones made in China. Again my momma didn't raise a fool. No wait, I can't say that, I have brothers and sisters. Well my momma didn't raise at least one fool.
So JD, does it really matter if the length of the stens filters are slightly different, as long as I have room? The diameters and threads are the same on all. Thanks, George

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
