: : : : I have a Wheel Horse garden tractor, 314-8 with a manual lift (vs hydro) and found an older model Wheel Horse single stage snow thrower that I want to buy for it. (the price is right ) It attaches to the tractor just fine, the belt center distance is ok, however, it is VERY difficult to lift. Is this normal? I am inclined to think not. Do any of you have this set-up and what is your experience with the WH manual lift w/ snow thrower? Thanks!: : Bill, : : I have a couple of wheelhorses that are a bit older than yours (1973 non-hydraulic & 1976 hydraulic). The snow thrower is hard to lift with the manual, but I think that Wheelhorse (Toro) has some helper springs available for the non-hydraulic version. You'll probably need to check with a dealer that had handled wheelhorse for a while if you want to get someone who knows enough about the system to order them. : : Good Luck! The blower is single stage, but it works pretty well if the snow is not too wet. : : Dick : : : Bill : I have a 310-8 with the same blower as yours. It is hard to lift: You will either have a sore left arm or a strong one after a few good snowfalls. I agree with Dick that the unit works well as long as the snow is not too wet. You will have to move slowly to keep it from clogging; either high range in first gear or low range in third gear. Also, you must lift the blower in order to change directions and you will find chains especially beneficial. : Good Luck, : Al Good news, I have solved my lift problem with my snowblower. I called Toro/Wheelhorse's 800 customer support number and they gave me the info I needed to fix the problem. Use the hole closest to the centerline of the lift arm pivot. I did and it now is easy to lift. Thanks for all of the help! Bill
