I just bought a 2003 JD 567 silage special a month ago after my Old Vermeer had trouble getting a bale started in some dry grass hay., the monitor count of the JD stood at 19800 some.
I put about 600 bales on it, i'm done for the year.
After a thorough cleaning I pulled it in the shop and checked the whole baler over.
I found many things that need attention which leads me to believe this baler has far more bales on it than the monitor says.
The end gate bottom belt roller has 1/8 deep grooves worn in where the belts ride.
The end gate is cracked on 6 places in the sheet metal sides( Was welded before and had been repainted but had no cracks at time of purchase)yet i baled only 65" bales at half the max tension.(Whats up with that!?)
The spirals on the corners of the staggered belt roller are just about worn off and so i found some more things i wish i had been made aware of to check for in these balers before i plunked the cash down.
I don't know how many bales are on the old Vermeer cause it was already worn to the hilt when i bought it but i put at least 25000 bales trough it after i re-rubbered the compression roller cause it was all worn off when i bought the baler, yet i never had to weld anything on it yet

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
