That post on auto insurance got me to thinking though. 50 state insurance commissioners, staffs, agencies, approval processes, computer systems, sure seems like a very costly redundantcy. I sure hope states are sharing best practices and software development costs. I am enough of a realist to know that the parties in power, the lobbiests and the politicos, would fight any move to streamline the system, if their job, appointees or gravy train was on the line. No wonder most states are running in the red. Example: Why couldn't a state insurance cooperative between N&S Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas share laws, staffs and systems????
