Roy,
I tried to do my part. I just took delivery of a new Demco 3 pt hitch 200 gallon sprayer this past spring. It's a drop in the bucket for saving jobs, but, I bought it because of Demco's track record and well built products. Most of that comes from you, the employee with so much experience.
I do thank you. It's a great sprayer.
The bust with corn comes from everyone jumping on the bandwagon and breaking records with yields as well as planted acreage. I don't see anyone letting up, anytime soon. Everyone's answer to low prices is to plant more acres which increases the supply even more, which in turn, lowers the prices even further. I don't know what the price threshold is for people to stop planting, but as far as I'm concerned, it's too low for me to continue planting. I am focused on my normal rotation between corn, beans, wheat, and oats. 4 crops which all could yield the same amount of money per acre... Even the price of oats has crept up, to be competitive. The low input costs for oats makes it feasible to profit. Monocrop culture will sink the ship. I believe they say something about "putting all your eggs in one basket?"

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
