The main thing is be patient in your search. It is possible to find something decent in your search. I bought this 1951 Ferguson TO-20 off of Craigslist for $400.00 a few years ago. This picture was taken not too long after I brought it home. The previous owner had removed the cylinder head and saw the cracks in the block between the cylinders. He didn't know that most of those tractors do that and it hurts nothing. I put a head gasket on it and I put it to work.
I bought this 1954 Farmall Super A for $400.00
It was a little more work because it had a cracked sleeve but it had brand new rear tires on it. All the sheet metal and stuff was with it it just wasn't on it when I hauled it home. They had kept every nut and bolt off that tractor in a bucket. Nothing was missing
I bought this project back in the spring. I paid $700.00 for it. The reason I gave more for it was because it is all original. It still has all the lynch pins chained on the arms and stabilizer brackets.
My point is the deals are out there in your price range. Just be patient in your search and you will run across something.

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
