Ive read numerous forums and seen just about every part of the process of changing over a positive ground system to a negative ground system on a 550 explained, except for what it takes to change polarity on the 12v positive ground generator with voltage regulator on top. Im in the process of changing over the pos ground to neg ground and installing an electronic ignition. Ive switched battery leads, changed the wires around on the 12v coil, changed the wires around on the ammeter, now all thats left to do is tackle the generator i think lol. Would like to keep the generator on the tractor as opposed to switching to an alternator being its been rebuilt not long ago and ive heard they can be switched over to work on the neg ground system just fine.
Does anyone know what it takes to make the 12v pos ground generator work with the neg ground 12v system? thanks
