The carb is flooding. Could be caused by trash holding the needle off the seat. Try closing the fuel valve at the tank, start the engine and let it run the carb empty. Then open the fuel valve. Sometimes the trash will flush out and it will stop flooding.
Could also be a worn needle valve, loose seat, float level too high, float sunk.
The carb is simple, field serviceable. Don't be afraid of it.
