: i have a jd A 1946 long hood i been pulling it at a couple of local pulls in the 5500 and 6500 lb class i start pulling and it just won't pick up the other tractors seem to have all kind of top end the carb is a dltx-53 all the other ones have a plug on the left side of the carb mine won't accept as it backfires and carries on if i take it out in runs good but i think i'm lacking power thanks for any help . : Eric before you get all worked up be careful what you are looking at when you compare your tractor to others expeaclly at tractor pulls. Take this advice from this 20 year vetran of antique tractor pulling. Tractors may look stock and even sound some what stock but don't be fooled. "A" John Deeres modified in this part of the country will produce up to 90 Hp "G's Over 100 Hp and that is at stock engine engine RPM. Maybe you can give me a little more information on what plug you are talking about, I think you are refering to the economizer plug on the side of the carburator. Allfuel carbs have this gas Carbs do not this is not a concern both types of carbs will work fine if they are clean.
