I retired from a large chemical plant & we had company welders that could weld up the crack of dawn. There are rods for cast,& every metal out there (Hard for the public to get). I have seen them weld a bead on a alum. coke can! 20+ yrs. ago I took in blades off of my bush hog and they used carbide rods and welded the edges of the blades....never had to touch them since.
