Al, I have run 4650, 4840,4640/4630,4430,With all things considered. The two tractors are basically the same except for the Trannys... 8 vs 15 speed. the old Tried & True 8-Speed PS is just about Bullit-Proof! the only real draw back is the 1.5mph difference between 4th & 5th!!! That was THE stumbling point for all JD PS tractors with the 8 Speed PS. the 15 speed PS corrected that short comming! I do not and have not heard any thing bad about the 15 Speed PS. ......... So if Hrs are ruffly the same, price is the same go with the 15 speed SP 4450! Hope this helps Later, John A.

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out.
