The Ethanol mix you"ve been experimenting with has "leaned" your fuel mix enough that it has gotten to what the carb should have been originally- ethanol is a "oxygenate" from the OH radical replacing a H ion in the carbon chain. SOME sealed carbs were set for sea level jetting, tested in a near Washington DC EPA lab and passed- get up 1000 foot above sea level and a bit rich. That seems to be what you have, you"ve got a working fix, may as well continue. RN
