Had to cut one off a co-workers finger in 2002. HE was holding a piece in place bare handed while he tacke it with a 120 v welder. a single piece of slag came up and hit the gold. it stuck and transferred the heat right to his finger. Bad burns for him!
Then his finger swelled and the skin was coming off near the ring. We cut it off with a HF cut off tool, a 2 lb bag of ice, and some blasphemy and profane speaking. He wished his wife dead several times. His finger had to have skin graphs. nothing left where the ring used to be, and he now doesn't wear one.
I can't blame him, but, it is better to take it off during work.
