: Need right side hydr. remote for a 1971 JD 4000,I have the left side, also can more than two remotes be installed on this tractor, I need three pair.
: There can be up to three factory SCV's (Selective Control Valves) installed on a John Deere 4000 tractor. All three valves are the same. The second valve can be bolted right on after removing the cover plate. If you wish to add the third valve you will need a differnt plate in behind the right hand valve this will allow you to put the third valve above the right hand valve. Not hard to install the valves but you will have to remove the levers and consol to install your control levers, arms and linkages. Later model tractor valves can be used they are basicly the same, all 30, 40, 50 and 60 series valves will bolt right on. The 50 and 60 series valve will have ISO outletts wich take Pioneer tips only.
One caution to take is when adding the (third) valve make sure you have the correct housing to bolt to or you will split your second and third valve box. What happens is people will try to use a housing for a 30 or 40 series trator and they are ported differnt wich do not allow the return oil to return and the first time you go to use it you will destroy one of the two if not both valves!! If you can not find a 20 series housing, the newer housing can be made to work by either adding a external return hose or you can drill a retun hole in the rockshaft valve housing.

As a kid he worked part time on a farm in Kansas doing many of the manual chores. Some of the more successful farmers of that day had a new time saving device called a tractor. It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea ... [Read Article]
