Well, do not make a mistake that I did last winter. If you are going to give it a shot of ether, don't get it mixed up with a still hot or really warm glow plug. I had been using a glow plug and it wasn't working, so I walked over and grabbed a can of ether and gave it a shot. Apparently glow plugs stay hot for longer than I considered, because the ether ignited quickly and began burning back into the air cleaner. Luckily for me my air passages where sealed, no or few small leaks if any and I snuffed it out. Could have gone badly, but I got lucky.
There's an old saying, "Learn from my mistakes, don't repeat them". I have no problem sharing my mistakes with others. I am far from perfect.
