About 3 years ago I dropped a large cherry and the crotch hung up on a hemlock about 8 inches in diameter. The way the hemlock was sprung over there was no safe way the cut it with the overhanging cherry branch and the cherry was jammed up against the butt and I couldn't move the thing in any direction with the 1955. Took my wife, myself and my grandson 54 shots with a 30/06 and two .44 mag rifles to cut the hemlock in two. Sure was fun!

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
