Been away from the computer so I didn't see your pic of the Thieman tractor till it was on the third page. I'm from Albert City and have heard the history of the Thieman tractors from several people. I've even restored a
Thieman. The Thieman, pronounced 'Teeman' by all of the Albert city locals and family, but also prounounced 'Theeman' by other people and I even heard a distant Thieman family member pronounce it 'Theeman'. The Thieman factory made the tractor frame and the farmer could bring his Model A Ford engine and tranny to the factory to be installed on the frame. Or the farmer could buy the frame from the factory and put his own Ford engine and tranny on it. The farmer also could buy a ready to go Thieman tractor from the factory. I have seen a Thieman with a flathead Ford V8 and it sounded neat, but I don't know if it was a factory installation or not. I've also heard of Thiemans with Chevy and Dodge engines but that's just a rumor. Red seems to be the customary color for this tractor but I have an idea some left the factory unpainted to save a couple of dollars.
Anyway, the Thieman tractor was one of those depression era inventions for the farmers who didn't have the money to buy a 'real' tractor. I don't thing there were any dealers. A farmer who wanted one got it from the factory. Jim
