The low oil shut down is more a part of the tractor than the engine. All that's on the engine is a pressure switch, just like you would find on an automotive application.
There is more to it than just grounding the mag kill wire. There has to be a delay or else you would have to crank a cold engine until it got pressure before it would start!
Look at your tractor manual, see if it has a low oil shut down. Unless it's an upper end model it probably won't have it.
I recently replaced the engine on my boss's X Mark. He ran it out of oil, it never shut down, told me to fix that while I was in there. Found out there was no low oil shut down! There was a switch, with a wire... Turns out all it did was keep the hour meter from running unless the engine was running.
