This doesn't answer your question but I can tell you what I concluded. We plant about 4 acres of pumpkins a year. We plant about ten different varieties meaning ten different size seeds. We walk along with a nail pouch to hold seed and a small plastic tube. You drop the seed where you want it in a pre-marked row. Kick the dirt over it with your foot and pace it off to the next drop. We get precision planting no matter what size seed we plant. We do about an acre per hour. I have tried using my corn planter but I have found it works better for us the old fashion way. My friend got a pumpkin setup for his JD plant at the JD dealer. He plants one varieties of pumpkins every year and does about 10-15 acres of them
