Brand isn't as critical as type and weight. Synthetic or simi-synthetic is best in most modern engines but is especialy desirable in the 6.0 because it shears oil more than most. There are also a bunch of filters on the market(the majority actually)that don't work well. Has to do with fit rather than filteration. Best information I can find says noone will pay Ford and Racor what they want for patents. Fram made the filter under patent until recently then qiit. Long story short,buy Motorcraft or buy one then clean it up after use and keep it for comparison if you buy another brand. Some mfgrs sell caps to fit their filter but not Motorcraft nor other competiors. Ditto on fuel filters. It's a d*@m mess that has cost owners a bundle of money.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
