With the right setup it is easy to do. First ask your supplier they might be accommodating. If not check to see if you have a liquid withdrawal valve on your tank. Take the number off of it and enter into Google. You should be able to find the mating fitting online. You need a shutoff to screw into the withdrawal valve fitting, a hose, another shutoff, and a fitting to hook to your tank. If you fill your tank in the evening, the small (empty) tank cools quicker than the large one making a pressure differential letting the liquid transfer without even needing to open the vent port. I usually let them set for a couple hours. I do have one tank that will overfill even with the OPD. I just make sure to use some out of that one right away if I think it may have too much in it. For me it isn't the cost of propane that is the problem for filling little ones, its the 40 miles to the nearest filling station, waiting a couple days and going back to get them. Burns more gas in the pickup than an LP tank holds.
Note that the hose is not on the big tank because it was filled recently. No sense giving my supplier something they don't need to worry about.
