Well I learned something about mounting 6" tires onto wheels with the small axle shaft hole.....which keeps it from fitting over your regular manual tire changing tool.
I used to mount them wet like is in all this conversation and I do mount all other tires wet. But attempting to mount alone it was a real bear. So the last 4 I mounted were mounted dry and not on the floor with my knees and all trying to hold them down, but using a large bench mounted vise with a large screwdriver attached to hold the tire on the vise.
Mounting dry once you make an advance around the wheel, it doesn't slip back while you are trying to make the next inch.
I also use screwdrivers 2 or 3, not the regular tire changing irons.
Might try it the next time you have to change one.
