Local Wal-Mart finally has some .223. 30-30, 30-06 and .308. For some reason they were always able to keep .45 ACP and 9MM in stock. I haven't seen a box of .22 or .380 ammo on their shelves in 3 years.
Local gun dealer that I go to had .22 in stock the entire time - at times it was nasty Russian ammo in yellow boxes with lots of wax in the boxes, other times it was some good CCI.
Massive numbers of AR15s on everyone's shelves and pricing on them has gone back to "normal" but no great deals out there yet. I bought a couple DPMS flat tops with collapsible stocks for $569 just before the 2008 elections. Currently the "cheap" ones are in the $650 to $700 range - but that might be the "new" cheap after 6 years of inflation.
