1911,Mossberg 500, and S&W M&P15
I live on the outskirts of Houston Tx. So YES it's dang near the Wild Wild west. Fortunately I haven't had much problems. We just hear about it on the news.
One time I had a group of 4 illegals going through my antique Farmall parts inventory. I called the Sheriff and went to put a stop to it. It was all no comprende and there demeanor started to get rough until I exposed a cocked and locked 1911 on my hip. Sheriff showed up about then and that was the end of it.
I was born and raised in rural Iowa. Back in the day keys where left in the vehicles and doors left open on cool days wether we were home or not. I don't remember ever locking anything. We had a 22 rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun.
Same area now has problems with drug addicts and theft is common. Everything is now locked up and family is armed all the time, as am I.
