: : : Anyone know of a good way to remove oil from brake shoes or must they be replaced? : : A combination of spraying with Brake Cleaner and sandpaper works quite well. Spray, wipe w/rag, sand, repeat until clean.... : ----------------------------- : I just had to do this very thing to my oil-soaked Farmall brake bands. I soaked the bands with spray-on brake cleaner, let them sit for a few minutes and then did it again. Then I fired up an old propane grill and cooked it as hot as the grill would go for about 2 hours. The bands came out clean as can be and did not affect the thin metal backing. It helped cook the brat grease off the grill too. : Good Luck, : Dick I have seen oil baked out using propane torch also. Just don't turn the torch up too hign and get it too hot, whatever too hot is. Good ventilation was a must.
