Titan bought out Curly Olney's a couple years ago. We were hoping that service would improve, the boss would like to move to more red equipment, but it hasn't. If you want someone who really knows what they're up to you need to make a road service call. Was talking to someone whose son was washing machines for them. Came in one day and asked who they hired, there was a new toolbox there. "It's yours, you're a mechanic now".
Crank sensor went bad on the Steiger during planting, caused a bunch of shift problems. The mechanic showed up with an empty service truck. Had a screwdriver, couple wrenches, and a few inches of emery cloth with him. And no manual.
Call Plains for a JD problem, might take a couple hours to get there the first week of picking corn or planting, but they show up with a fully equipped service truck, with a laptop loaded with all manuals.
They may not have all parts on the shelf (like the pressure relief valves that all 1770 planters use) but they have most. They robbed one out of a new planter a couple years ago to get me rolling again.
Heard someone bought the NH franchise off the dealer in McCook. That would be good. They have almost 0 shop space, and looking up a part number can be pretty strenuous.
