The Yorktown at Charleston is a replacement carrier that was named after the original which is still at the bottom of the Pacific. It lived up to it's name during the war.
It's not unusual for Navy ships to be named after earlier ships, The Enterprise and Hornet being 2 that come to mind. Wasn't there a fairly recent aircraft carrier named the Constellation? An earlier ship of that name was the sister ship of the Constitution, "Old Ironsides", which is a wooden frigate in Boston harbor and is still in commision as a USN ship.
