I agree in theory, but having been in a situation where I was the cop and we were supposed to go and arrest people that had 30 and 50 cal machine guns, grenades and lots of other stuff that we didn't have, it seems sort of different to me. When we were chasing a cop killer around the western part of our state we all had to bring our own rifles because the job just had shotguns and this guy was sniping us from way outside shotgun range.
Some people would have Americas police toting a stick and whistle or carrying their 1 bullet in their pocket ala Barney Fife. The problem isn't the police becoming militarized, it's the plain as day fact our nation is sliding into the cess pool as far as the limits people will go to. We have drug cartels moving north, terrorists moving west and a nation that thinks "where's mines?!!". What does anyone think will happen?
