My 85 Ford diesel pickup did that a few weeks ago. I pulled in to a field and shut it off and the starter was still spinning. That one starts hard and the bolt on the solenoid gets hot. That one got hot enough for the cable to loosen up and turn so the lug on the end of it was touching the exciter wire.
