I installed my Tarm indoor boiler in Oct 1977. It has never leaked. Tarm is made in Denmark, but sold by a US company in New England. It is a pressure boiler with pressure limits of about 20 psi. This means it can supply normal hydronic heat water to a second floor or maybe higher if needed. It also makes my domestic hot water. I prefeed the elect hot water tank with the potable boiler hot water. So if I am burning, my hot water comes from the wood fire, and if I go without fire, then the elect hot water tank supplies in its normal way.
The current models are much more fuel efficient and produce much less smoke. All of them like really dry firewood, and so does your chimney.
