Hello Ken, I can't help you with the other things, but when it comes to dating your tractor, it is possible to date it without the tag. Sometimes the casting numbers on your bigger cast iron pieces can be indicators. For example my Farmall H is casted with the letter "W" on the differential housing and the piece just behind the bell housing bellow the fuel tank. That letter "W" corresponds to 1943. The serial # of my tractor is for 1943. As far as how to find what Case casting letters/numbers will correspond to for certain years I'm unsure. Hope this helps. -Shane
