Was it overheating before the new thermostat? Anyway, I would test the thermostat in a pot of water on the stove with the wife's cooking thermometer to see if it is opening at the right temperature. Make sure when reinstalled it is facing the right way. When it is up to temperature look inside the radiator to see if you have good circulation. Then loosen the fan belt so the pump doesn't turn and rev the engine a little while looking in the radiator to see if there's any bubbles. If so it might mean a leaking head gasket. The only other thing I can think of at the moment is see if the lower hose is collapsing and causing no circulation. HTH TDF.
