We had two local guys running for township road commissioner, and they and their wives met at the door of the polling station. Everybody there got a big kick out of their exchange - they all shook hands and said "May the best man win" and laughed. One of the contestants asked the other one if he'd run the motor grader for him if he lost the election, and the other guy said he would. The guy who lost the election said he and his wife promptly voted for the other man because he didn't want to mess with all the paperwork anyhow. Those two were a well respected team for many years, until their health declined and they had to quit.
