Ran a 1070 with a Vermeer 605C for many a bale. GREAT combination. All the hand movements were inline and the powershift that had reverse was ideal for that baler (you had to back up about 10 feet for every bale). That said if your baler requires a reverse for every cycle, don't walk but run away from the 986. I rented one once when our 1070 was down and hated it to death on the baler.
Not familiar with White so can't offer a opinion there.
