I don't notice any difference in air quality here in recent years. Most of our air quality improvement came when the open hearth shut down at the steel plant and that was 25 years ago here... That removed the orange cloud from the sky... I think most of the reduction you see has more to do with tighter particulate emission requirements. It's not common to see clean exhaust stacks on a truck. That was something you never used to see... The actual reduction in sulphur in the fuel is having an impact as well. I've been told in the last couple of years that soil samples are now routinely coming up short in sulphur... and many farmers are now having to land apply sulphur. This was unheard of for us in nova scotia in recent recorded history... Personally I don't see much difference in fuel quality since the change to ULSD. It probably has slightly less energy in it so consumption has risen a bit... but that's about it. I've had zero problems with fuel lubricity and I don't generally use any additives...
