What is in a magnetic field is matter in motion, traveling and spinning at C which is the speed of light and the speed of electricity. It is not coincidence that they are the same. The power of a magnet comes from the atoms of the material. You can try to charge a piece of wood, but it will never align its atoms to produce a magnetic field. But there are man made mixtures of materials that will align & produce a strong field when charged by a stronger magnet. But it only takes a few watts to align the atoms & after that a pm is producing its own power by E= mc2. The magnets in a starter will last for years if the right material is used to make them.
