Very nice. "A picture is worth a thousand words". Several points that might help the confused. The upper picture is the smaller block arrangement- B/C/CA/D10/D12/D14/D15/etc. With governor spring mounted externally. Different calibrated springs for each series give different wide open speeds. Proper gov. to carb. indexing is achieved by bending the cross arm!(Both wide open at the same time).
Lower picture is the bigger block- W series/D17, with internal gov. spring. Indexing achieved by bending vertical portion of gov. arm.
Little anti surge spring on left side of engine mounted or used as necessary.
