We have farmers in the western part of southeast MN that will drop $450-$500 per acre without battling an eye. My land is towards the western part, not the eastern part where the bluff lands are. I am aware that the crop prices are down, new machinery sales have ground to a halt, and land has soften. Also, I am aware that I don't have the good black soil and tiled fields that brings top dollar. Our renter is a modest sized dairy farmer which needs to have the rotation of corn and oats/hay. They haul manure back onto the fields, maintain waterways, and minimize spraying chemicals. I am not looking to pillage my renter, but just trying to get an idea of how others around are seeing rent prices. I guess I have not looked to far into the concept of rent prices based off of the production of the crops because of the variables in hay and corn for silage as well as the fields put into oats, many years it is chopped for the silo and some years baled for the straw. I appreciate all of your comments and understand each situation is dynamic to itself. That is why I was looking for trends…prices holding, prices dropping, etc…Thanks!!

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
